Local elections in ORDLO – CEC requests to provide information before January 15, if they can be held

The Central Election Commission requests the Lugansk and Donetsk regional state administrations to provide information on the possibility of holding local elections in certain territorial communities in these regions. Elections are scheduled for March 28.

This was reported by the press service of the CEC.

The elections want to be held in 10 rural, urban and settlement territorial communities of the Bakhmutsky, Volnovakhsky, Mariupol and Pokrovsky districts of the Donetsk region and in 8 districts of Severodonetsk and Schastyensky of the Lugansk region.

“If it is possible to organize the preparation and conduct of local elections in accordance with the electoral code of Ukraine in certain territories of these regions on the last Sunday of March 2021, the Commission must decide on the appointment of the first local elections on March 28 2021 no later than January 17, 2021, “the CEC said. …

The CEC noted that the Commission is not empowered to independently determine the possibility of ensuring security during elections.

“Therefore, in order to ensure the implementation and protection of the constitutional electoral rights of the citizens of Ukraine, the Commission adopted an appropriate appeal to the Donetsk and Luhansk Regional State Administrations – Military Regional Civil Administrations (Military Regional Civil Administrations)”, added the CEC.

We will recall, earlier, the president of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Razumkov, said about the impossibility of holding local elections in CADLO in the near future.

Furthermore, RBC-Ukraine wrote that the head of the TCG Ukrainian delegation Leonid Kravchuk believes that in order to hold local elections in occupied Donbas on March 31, 2021, the Ukrainian side must adopt various laws.
