Retirement age for women will increase in 2021 – named date

In Ukraine, as of April 1, 2021, the retirement age of women will increase from 59.5 to 60 years. This will be the last stage in the tightening of the requirements, which began to be implemented in 2011.

This is indicated in the account statement of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. “In 2020, the retirement age for women until April 1 is 59 years, from April 1 to 59 years and 6 months. As of April 1, 2021, the retirement age for women will be 60 years, “the statement read.

Please note that after 2021, no increase in retirement age is anticipated. On the other hand, some Ukrainians, both women and men, will enjoy a well-deserved break at 63 or 65. This is due to the tightening of the seniority requirement.

Note that in Ukraine the retirement age is one of the lowest in Europe. In many neighboring countries, the retirement age has already been raised to 63-65 years. Instead of reviewing the rules for everyone, since 2017, flexible rules are in place: those who have not met the seniority requirements will take a well-deserved break later. And the rest can, as before, receive a pension from the age of 60.

As OBOZREVATEL already wrote, the increase in pensions in March should be around 11%. For example, with a pension of 3.5 thousand hryvnias, the amount of the increase can be about 385 hryvnias. If the decision is postponed from March, for example, to December, the Ukrainians will lose 3.4 thousand UAH.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote in detail about what the pension reform of the Cabinet of Ministers will look like and why the situation with the payment of pensions in Ukraine will worsen annually.
