A man who received a heart transplant dies in Lviv / GORDON

A 30-year-old Mukachevo resident underwent heart transplant surgery in late December. The donor was a woman hospitalized with a severe heart attack.

On January 3, a 30-year-old resident of the city of Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region, who received a donor heart on December 25, passed away. This is reported by “Pershy.com.ua” with reference to the patient’s wife.

According to the publication, before the transplant, the man suffered pneumonia, after which his heart stopped six times in 2020.

The heart of a Mukachevo resident was transplanted on December 25 at the Lviv emergency hospital. The operation was carried out for free, said the city’s mayor, Andrei Sadovy. The donor was a woman hospitalized with a severe heart attack.

In Ukraine, as of January 1, 2019, a law allowing organ transplantation is in force. It says that all adult citizens of Ukraine can accept the posthumous donation or decline it. Information about this can be entered in the passport or driver’s license, as well as information about consent to posthumous donation will be entered without fail in the Unified State Transplant Information System.

According to the Ministry of Health, the medical institutions of Kiev, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, Lvov, Dnipro, Odessa and Kovel are engaged in organ transplantation in Ukraine. At the same time, the Ministry of Health noted that doctors not enough donor organs.

In January 2020, the developer of the Unified State Information System for Transplantation announced that it had already been developed and was ready for release. The head of the Ministry of Health expects Ukraine to receive full transplant independence within three years.
