Gas exploded in an apartment in Chernivtsi, there are victims

The fire may have occurred due to a violation of fire safety rules during the installation and operation of electrical equipment.

In Chernivtsi, there was a domestic gas explosion and a fire in one of the apartments of a residential building. Its 82-year-old owner was injured, according to the regional department of the National Police on Sunday, January 3.

“In the morning, the 102 police hotline received a message about a domestic gas explosion in an apartment on the fourth floor of one of the houses on Pochtovaya Street in Chernivtsi. Doctors hospitalized the victim with numerous burns on the hospital’s intensive care unit, “the report says.

Law enforcement officers discovered that the fire may have occurred due to a violation of fire safety rules during the installation and operation of electrical equipment. As a result of the high temperature, there was also a burst of the air-gas mixture. The fire partially damaged the walls and ceiling of the room, furniture and things.

Investigators entered information about the incident in the Unified Register of Preliminary Investigations on Prequalification under the article on violation of fire safety requirements established by law (part 2 of article 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). For the definitive establishment of the causes of the fire, the law enforcement officers assigned a series of examinations.

Earlier this week in Kremenchuk, a girl was ripped from her fingers by the explosion of a firecracker, which attempted to set fire in the courtyard of a high-rise building. A 10-year-old boy received an amputation injury to the phalanx of the third and fourth fingers, as well as a laceration of the first finger of his left hand.

In Kiev, there was an explosion at the entrance of the restaurant.
