Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid do not agree on the financial aspect of the new contract for the Spanish defender.
The ABC publication reports that the captain of the Royal Club intends to extend the contract with the “cream” until 2023.
Under the current agreement, Sergio’s salary is 12 million euros per year. But over the course of last year, Ramos agreed twice to go for a 10% pay cut due to the club’s financial difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the new contract, the Real Madrid defense leader wants to receive bonuses of 2 million euros in 2022 and 2023. Payments will be made if the Spaniard plays more than 30 official games per season with Madrid. According to Ramos, that option should be a compensation for loyalty, good performances with the Real Madrid shirt and economic losses due to the pandemic.
The Spaniard’s current contract expires at the end of this season. This season, Sergio Ramos played 13 games in the Spanish championship and scored 2 goals.
