The British ambassador to Washington, Karen Pearce, called the strategic competition from China and Russia, “especially China”, a big problem for the United States and Great Britain.

Russia and China may emerge victorious from the coronavirus pandemic. The British ambassador to the United States, Karen Pearce, told Bloomberg in an interview that was published on December 31.

The diplomat expressed the opinion that this should not be allowed by the United States and Britain.

Washington and London must work closely together, he said.

According to Pearce, the world is “recovering from the pandemic” and China can set rules in tech areas such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics. This situation, according to the ambassador, may pose a threat to open markets.

Another “big problem” Pearce sees is strategic competition from Russia and China, “especially China.” He called for every effort to be made for the “open societies” that are recovering from the peak of the pandemic to flourish.

An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. March 11, 2020 World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic.

As of January 2, more than 84 million people were infected with the coronavirus in the world, according to the US Johns Hopkins University, of which 1.8 million died, more than 47 million recovered. In China, COVID-19 was confirmed in 96 thousand people, more than 3 million cases were recorded in the Russian Federation.
