Stanley Johnson became a French citizen after Great Britain left the European Union under the leadership of his son.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson Stanley’s father received French citizenship after the country left the EU, Bloomberg reports.

As noted, the French government granted 80-year-old Stanley Johnson’s application for citizenship on Friday, January 1. The government noted that this is proof of how much the British are tied to the EU even after Brexit.

Stanley Johnson previously represented the Conservative Party in parliament and was a member of the European Parliament.

Before that, Stanley Johnson announced that he wanted to obtain French citizenship. He voted to remain in the EU in the 2016 English referendum.

As a reminder, Britain started its first year outside the EU, but air traffic between the EU and the UK will take place as usual – passenger and cargo planes can still fly and land in the EU.
