In congratulating Ukrainians on the New Year, former Kharkiv town deputy and mayor Mikhail Dobkin noted that many Kharkiv residents often ask him a question, to which he replied, “Yes, yes.”
Former People’s Deputy of Ukraine, former Kharkiv Mayor Mikhail Dobkin, plans to participate in the early elections of the Kharkiv mayor. This follows from a post on the Telegram channel “Bearded Babushka”, which Dobkin himself posted on his channel.
“Contrary to all speculation, the Kharkiv City Council, in the manner prescribed by law, filed an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada on the appointment of new elections for mayors in connection with the death [избранного мэра Геннадия] Kernes. So that you cannot delay the elections as long as possible, you are clever … you are our bathhouse, they will have to be held in March. And yes, Dobkin goes to the mayor, “says the message.
On the eve of New Year’s Eve, the politician posted a video on Telegram – a Happy New Year.
“By the way, many Kharkivites here have asked me often lately. So I will answer: yes. In the new year, with new victories,” he said in the video.
Dobkin was elected Mayor of Kharkov in March 2006. In March 2010, he was appointed Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.
Since 2010, Kernes has been mayor of Kharkov. In 2020 he won the elections again, gaining 60.34% in the first round… Dobkin also announced his intention to run.
On December 16, Kernes died in the German “Charite” clinic from the effects of the coronavirus infection. Kernes’ son Daniil said that after the injury to the mayor of Kharkiv in 2014, he had a weak lung; a bullet “went through” him. A severe course of the disease was associated with this.
On December 23, Kernes was buried, more than 100,000 people attended the farewell ceremony with the politician.
The duties of the mayor are performed by the secretary of the city council, Igor Terekhov.
According to Opora, no later than the 15th day after the death of the mayor, the person exercising his powers must submit a request to parliament to call early elections.
Dobkin in 2020 was going to go to the mayor of Kiev.
