The City Council prepared an appropriate appeal to parliament, which Terekhov signed and sent for its consideration.

Kharkiv City Council Secretary Igor Terekhov appealed to Verkhovna Rada with a request to appoint new elections for the mayor of Kharkiv, ATN television channel reports.

“We did everything in the manner prescribed by law,” he said.

According to Suspilne, on the eve of the town hall, lawyers prepared the corresponding appeal, which Terekhov signed and sent to parliament on January 1.

We will recall, on December 17, that the long-term mayor of Kharkov Gennady Kernes died at the German Charite clinic as a result of complications from the coronavirus disease. He was buried in Kharkov on December 23. More than one hundred thousand people came to say goodbye to the mayor.
