The introduction of fees for visa-free entry of Ukrainian citizens into the EU, which was scheduled for January 1, 2021, was postponed for another year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As the Ukrainian delegation to the EU reported to “Ukraine News”, the actual introduction of the European Travel Authorization Information System (ETIAS) will take place in 2022.
“Previously, the date was actually 2021, but the European Union has postponed this deadline until 2022. In 2022 alone, citizens of Ukraine will have to complete an application for ETIAS before traveling to the European Union,” the office said.
This system will apply to third-country nationals who enjoy visa-free travel in the EU. These individuals will need to obtain prior travel authorization by submitting an online application.
The application fee is 7 euros for applicants between 18 and 70 years old, for others it is free.
No later than 4 days before the trip, the online system must provide personal and contact information (information about your travel documents, place of residence, education, work, etc.) to assess possible immigration or security risks.
Issuance of authorization to travel should take several minutes in the absence of records in law enforcement databases. The permit will be valid for 3 years or until the expiration of the passport to travel up to 90 days.
In the event of refusal to enter through the system, an appeal can be filed.
As previously reported by OBOZREVATEL, the cost of issuing biometric passports will increase in Ukraine from January 1.
