Ilya Kiva, a people’s deputy from the Oposition Platform – For Life faction, posted on his Facebook a photo wearing a cap with ear flaps with a Soviet star.
“Nazi, arrest me! With this star, my grandfather, he cut the fascists’ throat!” – signed the photo of Kiva.
This is how the people’s deputy reacted to the recent incident that happened to a 19-year-old resident of Lviv. On December 28, the city police received information that in one of the cafes on Valovaya Street there is a man with communist symbols on his hat. As a result, investigators from the local police department opened a criminal case for “propaganda of the communist regime.” Now the guy faces a penalty in the form of imprisonment of up to five years with confiscation of assets.
Earlier, “Strana” examined in detail why law enforcement agencies in Ukraine hold people accountable for Soviet symbols and do not pay attention to the attributes of the Nazi regime.
