The Neptuns purchase will be included in the state defense order for next year
Next year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will adopt the Neptune coastal missile systems developed by the Luch Design Bureau.
The Luch Design Office and the Defense Ministry signed a contract for the delivery of Neptune coastal missile systems in 2021. This was reported by the Ukroboronprom press service on Wednesday, December 30.
Under the contract, the army will receive unified launchers, transport vehicles and transport cargo, as well as a mobile command post.
The Neptunes are equipped with cruise missiles that fly at ultra-low altitudes for a range of about 300 km. The rocket has starter and sustain (main) motors. The first is a modified solid launch propellant from the S-125 anti-aircraft missile. The MC-400 main turbojet engine is manufactured by Motor Sich.
The missile’s search head, which has ultra-high viewing angles and is capable of detecting and fixing a target at a distance of up to 50 km, was developed by the Ukrainian research and production company Radionix together with the Artem holding company.
We recall, on August 23, that Defense Minister Andrei Taran signed an order on the adoption of the Neptune missile system by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Ruslan Khomchak’s General Staff, Neptune will appear in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at best only in one year in the amount of one division, at a time when they need five.
