The Luch Kiev Design Office and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a contract for the delivery of the Neptune coastal missile systems in 2021. The purchases will be made within the framework of the state defense order.
This is stated in the message on the Ukroboronprom website.
Neptune is reported to be one of Ukroboronprom’s leading high-tech product platforms. Under the contract, the army will receive unified launchers, transport vehicles and transport cargo, as well as a mobile command post.
Neptune is equipped with cruise missiles that fly at ultra-low altitudes for a range of about 300 km. The rocket has starter and sustain (main) motors. The first is a modified solid launch propellant from the S-125 anti-aircraft missile. The MC-400 main turbojet engine is manufactured by Motor Sich.
The search head of the missile, which has ultra-high viewing angles and is capable of detecting and fixing a target at a distance of up to 50 km, was developed by the Ukrainian research and production company “Radionix” together with the holding company “Artem “.
We will recall, earlier it was reported that the “Neptune” complexes will be located in the southern regions of Ukraine.
And the head of the Verkhovna Rada National Security Committee, Alexander Zavitnevich, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, noted that Neptune could be exported.
