At a meeting of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, prosecutors announced the withdrawal of the petition for the election of a coercion measure for the deputy head of the Office of President Oleg Tatarov.

The representative of the prosecution explained the decision by the fact that at the moment there is no confirmation of the validity of the suspicion presented against Tatarov.

«They withdraw the request to opt for a precautionary measure in the form of detention because at the present time we cannot affirm that the suspicion was justified. We were not able to fully familiarize ourselves with the materials they handed us, ”said one of the prosecutors.

The court complied with the prosecutors’ declaration to withdraw the motion to arrest Tatarov.

Before the VAKS meeting on the choice of preventive measures for Oleg Tatarov, the Office of the Prosecutor General transferred the criminal proceedings to the Security Service of Ukraine.

In connection with this decision, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office was completely removed from the Tatarov case and new prosecutors were appointed in his place.

The National Anti-Corruption Office called the sudden change of jurisdiction “an unprecedented interference in the investigation in the history of Ukraine” and opened a case due to possible illegal interference by Attorney General Irina Venediktova.
