Atlético forward Diego Costa terminated his contract with the club for personal reasons.

Diego Costa and Atlético reached an agreement to terminate the contract, the club’s official website said.
The agreement expired on June 30, 2021, but the footballer asked to terminate the contract earlier than planned for personal reasons and the “kolchoneros” attended the player’s meeting.
Diego Costa started playing for Atlético in 2006 at the age of 17 and played 215 official games (83 goals and 36 assists) in his two appearances for the club.
Along with Atlético, Diego Costa was proclaimed champion of Spain, won the Spanish Cup, the Europa League and two European Super Cups.
In an official press release, the club thanked the footballer “… for his dedication during these years” and wished him success in his future career.
Besides Atlético, Diego Costa played for Peñafiel (14 games in all tournaments, 5 goals), Braga (9, 1), Celta (31, 6), Albacete (36, 10), Valladolid (36, 9), Rayo Vallecano (16, 10) and Chelsea (120, 59).
