The Defense Ministry ordered three planes from the Antonov plant

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive three new aircraft for the delivery of personnel, weapons and light military equipment, as well as for the transport of goods.

The Ministry of Defense and the Antonov State Enterprise signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the construction of aircraft for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the president’s office on Tuesday, December 29.

In the first stage, we are talking about three new An-178 military transport aircraft. They can be used to deliver light military personnel, weapons and equipment by landing and parachute methods, as well as to transport goods.

Zelensky suggested that state customers continue to work on new contracts for the production of An-178 starting in 2021, and the Cabinet of Ministers, to solve the problem of creating a Ukrainian airline in 2021 that will use Antonov’s planes. He also instructed to develop a State Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of the Aviation Industry for 2021-2030 and to prepare a corresponding meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.

Note that the An-178 made its maiden flight in 2015. In August, Antonov manufactured the first An-178 aircraft without RF parts. 2/3 of the equipment of corporations of the United States of America, another third – national production.

Three An-148 and 10 An-158 aircraft are currently in Antonov’s serial production workshops in different stages of preparation.

Recall that Ukraine will produce Turkish corvettes and drones. These are the first foreign economic transactions of military goods concluded by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
