Nord Stream 2 has announced the completion of the construction of a section of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in Germany’s exclusive economic zone. Construction continued from early December after a year-long hiatus.

This is reported by the German publication DPA.

Nord Stream 2 is expected to begin construction of a gas pipeline in Danish waters in mid-January. The laying of pipes, as in Germany, will be carried out by the Russian ship Fortuna.

However, Nord Stream 2, in response to a request from DPA, declined to officially comment on its future plans. As stated in the company, all information will be communicated “in due course”.

The laying of the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline was resumed in German waters on December 11. The pipes were laid by the Russian ship Fortuna. Construction was frozen due to US sanctions.

As a reminder, on December 26, the Russian ship Fortuna abandoned construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in German waters. The ship returned to the German port of Wismar.

RBC-Ukraine also wrote that work on the construction of a section of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline in Danish waters will resume on January 15, 2021. This is the last unfinished section of the gas pipeline.
