The incidence of COVID-19 and influenza is expected to increase in January
The decision to increase restrictions from January 8 to 24 will not be canceled, as an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 and influenza is expected.
The strengthening of quarantine restrictions will not be canceled in January, as an increase in the incidence of coronavirus is expected after the holidays, as well as a seasonal outbreak of influenza. This was announced on Monday, December 28, by the head of the Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov.
In this sense, according to the minister, it is important to address this with the maximum reduction of the burden on the medical system.
“I appeal and urge the organizers, please organize the process so that the anti-epidemic rules are complied with,” the minister told the organizers of the festive events.
Stepanov said that 59,381 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Ukraine in the past week compared to 70,327 a week earlier. He believes that the incidence has decreased due to anti-epidemic measures.
At the same time, he explained the decrease in the number of PCR tests due to an increase in rapid antigen tests.
“Apparently it has fallen, what is it connected to? We started using, among other things, antigen tests, rapid tests, which are tests that are done in 15 minutes,” Stepanov said.
So, last week, 203 954 PCR tests were carried out, and the week before the last – 250 417. While 58 063 antigen tests were carried out and 34 058 one week before.
He explained the decrease in morbidity statistics by the fact that the laboratory began to deliver fewer samples for research.
Recall that today the Ministry of Health reported on the minimum daily increase in coronavirus cases since the beginning of October. However, this decrease occurred in the context of a decrease in the number of tests.
