The drug will be effective against a new strain of virus found in Britain.
The CEO noted that the new “winning formula” will increase the drug’s effectiveness. But additional tests will be needed.
Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca said it has found a “winning formula” that will increase the effectiveness of a coronavirus vaccine developed in conjunction with the University of Oxford, writes The Guardian.
The researchers believe that the injection will be effective against a variant strain of the virus that was first discovered in the UK.
“We believe that we have identified a formula for success and have discovered how to achieve comparable efficacy after two doses,” said Pascal Sorio, CEO of AstraZeneca.
He added that more evidence is needed to be sure of this.
It has been previously noted that the company’s vaccine is 90% effective after a patient has received two doses one month apart.
AstraZeneca starts registering its COVID vaccine
We also write that in Germany, scammers are extorting six thousand euros for a free COVID vaccine. Apparently, the employees of a pharmaceutical company call the elderly and offer to buy the first package of vaccine for a large sum.
