In northeast China’s Liaoning Province, an unidentified man attacked bystanders with a knife, killing and wounding 14 people.
The bloody incident occurred near a sauna and a bathhouse in Kaiyuan city on December 27. On this with reference to information from local authorities writes the Global Times.
It is noted that at least seven people died and the same number were injured in the attack.
The latter were taken to the hospital, no further information was given on the state of the victims. It is only known that among them is, among other things, a policeman who participated in the arrest of the suspect.
The attacker, referred to by the media as Yang, was arrested. The motives for his attack remain unknown.
It is emphasized that Chinese law restricts the sale and possession of firearms, and mass attacks in the country generally involve the use of improvised knives or explosives.
It also emphasizes that those responsible for similar attacks in the past have been described as “mentally ill or harboring grievances against society.”
