The “British” coronavirus reaches Canada

Citizens infected with the new strain of COVID-19 have not made any recent trips.

In the Canadian province of Ontario, there were two cases of infection with a new type of COVID-19, similar to those identified in the United Kingdom. This was announced on Saturday, December 26, by the press service of the regional directorate.

It is noted that the infection was confirmed in a couple from the Durham area. At the same time, the authorities emphasize that the aforementioned citizens have not made any trips lately. They are now in self-isolation.

As previously reported, a new strain of coronavirus was detected in Spain (four cases) and Sweden (one infected). The infected citizens were sent into self-isolation.

Before that, Nigeria had also identified a new strain of COVID-19, which, however, is not the same as the variant found in Britain. The “Nigerian” type bears some resemblance to the 501.V2 variant of the coronavirus identified in South Africa.
