In addition, archaeologists have found containers containing some 2,000-year-old animal bone fragments, which were sold over the store counter. Traces of pork, fish, snails and veal were found in the containers. This, according to archaeologist Valeria Amoretti, indicates a wide variety of animal products used in cooking.
