European police departments will cooperate to prevent vaccine theft

Ads for the sale of the coronavirus vaccine have already appeared on social networks. However, these ads are posted by scammers, Europol stressed.

The European Union started mass vaccination against the COVID19 coronavirus and Europol immediately warned of possible fraud. There is a real danger that criminals will try to take advantage of the huge demand. This was stated by the director of Europol, Catherine de Boll.

According to her, advertisements for the sale of the vaccine have already appeared on social networks. However, these ads are posted by scammers, stressed the head of Europol.

Those who responded to such offers will either receive nothing after payment or a fake will be sent to them, which could have serious health consequences, Catherine de Boll warned.

In turn, law enforcement officials must be prepared for attempts to steal the coronavirus vaccine, the Europol chief said.

“During the first confinement, the gangs attacked, for example, vehicles wearing protective masks. Now there is that danger with the vaccine,” de Boll said.

Europol has identified places where these crimes are most likely to be committed. Furthermore, the police departments of European countries intend to cooperate with each other to prevent vaccine theft.

Let us remember that on December 27, the first stage of vaccination against coronavirus begins in the EU countries, in which each of the 27 countries will be able to vaccinate up to five thousand citizens of risk groups with BioNTech / Pfizer.

In addition, in three European countries, Hungary, Germany and Slovakia, the first vaccines against COVID-19 were carried out the day before.
