Servant of the People’s deputy, Daniil Getmantsev, believes that “half-measures” do not give the desired effect in the fight against the coronavirus infection epidemic.
Daniil Getmantsev, a deputy for Servant of the People, head of the parliamentary committee on financial, tax and customs policy, said the authorities should have introduced a total blockade in January, including the stoppage of public transport. He stated this in an interview with Radio Svoboda, commenting on the protests by individual entrepreneurs against the introduction of severe quarantine restrictions from January 8 to 24, 2021.
“I am in favor of a complete blockade with a transport stop. I am a constant supporter of this decision. Because any half-way restrictions do not bring the benefits we expect. At the same time, it should be noted that the government’s decision on” quarantine weekend “today allowed us to observe less the number of people infected with the coronavirus,” Getmantsev said.
He stressed that restrictive measures in all countries negatively affect small businesses.
“The UK is introducing a total blockade again. Israel is introducing a total blockade. That is, many countries have gone through a total blockade. Our government has decided to compromise by introducing a ‘weekend blockade’, for example by introducing a blockade as of January 8, without stopping the transport. [Кабмин] trying to find a certain compromise … You see, if we can save the life of a Ukrainian at the cost of 0.5% of GDP, we must do so without even thinking, “believes the popular deputy.
