Severe allergic reaction to Moderna vaccine reported in the US.
A man with a severe allergy to shellfish developed a severe allergic reaction almost immediately after receiving the injection.
In Boston, a doctor after receiving a COVID vaccine from Moderna developed a severe allergic reaction within hours of the injection. On Friday, December 25, The New York Times reports.
“The incident occurred with Dr. Hossein Sadrzadeh, a Boston Medical Center oncologist who suffers from a severe allergy to shellfish,” the post noted.
The man was vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine Thursday night. The doctor stated that he felt a severe allergic reaction almost immediately after receiving the injection. In his testimony, he, in particular, noticed that his head was spinning and his heart rate was increasing. After that, with the permission of other doctors, Dr. Sadrzadeh injected himself with a single anti-allergy drug. The man was taken to the emergency room.
This is the first known case of a severe response to the Moderna vaccine.
It was previously reported that the US regulator confirmed the safety of the Moderna COVID vaccine. The company previously said it was 94% effective for its coronavirus vaccine.
It was also reported that Pfizer and Moderna would not be responsible for the side effects of the vaccine. The United States has granted pharmaceutical companies immunity from liability if serious side effects develop from volunteers who have undergone vaccinations.
