The Ukrainian icon, which the pro-Russian member of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik presented to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, has returned to Bosnia.

“I personally brought the icon from Moscow and handed it over to the office of the President of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik,” Samardzhia said. Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that it had returned the donated Ukrainian laurel icon to the Bosnian embassy.
Samardzhia said he informed the Russian side that he returned the icon to the office of Dodik, who is now hospitalized with a coronavirus infection.
Samardzhia also noted that he had received a note from the Russian Federation, in which Dodik was asked to verify the origin of the icon through official departments, primarily through Interpol.
What preceded it
- On December 18, the Bosnia and Herzegovina prosecutor’s office opened a case involving a former Ukrainian icon that Dodik presented to Lavrov.
- Lavrov visited Sarajevo on December 14. At the same time, Dodik presented Lavrov with an ancient icon.
