Former Russian national team captain Roman Shirokov was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and ordered to pay 100,000 rubles in compensation for beating referee Nikita Danchenkov in an amateur team match.
According to the Telegram channel BAZA, despite the act of the former footballer, he was not deprived of the title of sports teacher. The prosecution asked to sentence Shirokov to one year and 10 months in prison, and the injured referee demanded that Roman pay damages worth 500,000 rubles.
Recall that in August 2020, the former captain of the Russian team participated in the Moscow Celebrity Cup tournament, where he played for the Match TV team. In one of the fights, he went toe-to-toe with the goalkeeper, allegedly received a blow to the legs and began calling for a penalty, but Danchenkov ignored his fall. Shirokov decided to deal with the judge and warned the referee that he would hit him if he showed him a red card, which happened.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the Russian referee hit the player in the face and caused a brawl.
