Lavrega says he shot the deputy to intimidate
Lavrega confessed to the careless handling of weapons, the murder of a child by negligence, but not an attempt on the life of the deputy.
The defendant in the case of the attempted murder of the regional council deputy Vyacheslav Sobolev, as a result of which his three-year-old son died, partially admitted his guilt.
According to hromadske, Andrei Lavrega confessed to falsifying documents, careless handling of weapons and the negligent murder of a child. At the same time, he denied the fact of a deliberate attempt on Sobolev’s life.
“He said he did not want to kill Sobolev with his shot. When one of the judges clarified the purpose of the shot, Lavrega noted that he did it with the aim of intimidation,” said prosecutor Maxim Chervony.
Lavrega also apologized to the victims.
The second defendant, Evgeny Semyonov, accused of complicity in the attempted murder of Sobolev, has pleaded not guilty.
We will recall that on December 1, 2019 in the center of Kiev there was an attempt on the life of the deputy of the Kiev Regional Council, Vyacheslav Sobolev. The Range Rover car, which Sobolev and his family were in, was attacked. His young son died.
Already on December 4, the Shevchenko District Court detained Andrei Lavrega, a suspect in the attempted murder of Sobolev, without bail. According to the investigation, he fired a shot.
Soon, law enforcement officers identified the organizer of the assassination attempt: Russian Yusup Abuev. Four other defendants are suspected of extorting money through the use of violence and death threats.
