According to Dr. Adam Kenjerski from the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, this is one of the most fascinating treasures in Poland. He noted that the treasure belongs to the end of the 11th and 12th centuries.
The search began after the publication of a monograph on the treasure found in Slushkov before World War II. The find consisted of 13,061 items, including silver coins and jewelry.
In November, archaeologists traveled to Sluszków to photograph the site of previous finds, but a local priest pointed out the place where the treasure was supposed to be hidden.
Two days later, the researchers found a pot full of denarii. Among the coins, they found two gold wedding rings.
“The rings are probably made of precious stones. In addition, they are decorated with gold granules. The largest ring is conical and polygonal, and the smallest is in the shape of a rod with drilled holes, “said archaeologist Dariusz Vychulkowski.
On one of the rings there is an inscription in Cyrillic that says: “Lord, help your servant Maria. The treasures found are supposed to be part of Maria’s dowry.
“We know that at that time Boleslav Kryvostoy’s wife was a Russian princess named Zbyslava. According to the literature, he was supposed to have a sister, Maria, who was married to Pyotr Vlostovich. It is generally accepted that Maria was the daughter of Svyatopolk Izyaslavovich, prince of Kiev, ”said Professor Yusupovich.
