The ancient icon, which Milorad Dodik had previously presented to Sergei Lavrov, was handed over to the Bosnia and Herzegovina embassy.

The former Ukrainian icon of Lugansk, which the President of the Republika Srpska Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, presented to the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit on December 14, was transferred to the embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina writes TASS.

“On December 23, according to the donor, the icon was transferred to the embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Moscow. At the same time, the partners were recommended to use the legal mechanisms available to clarify all the circumstances of this case, including the origin of said artifact, “said the Foreign Ministry.

Recall that the icon scandal came after Dodik presented Lavrov with a 300-year-old icon, which turned out to be from occupied Lugansk. A photo of the icon appeared in the media, on which a wax seal is seen, indicating that the item belongs to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Embassy sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and demanded to find out how the Lugansk icon ended up in the country.

Following the scandal in Bosnia, an investigation was launched for an ambiguous presentation.

Later, the opposition demanded Dodik’s resignation.
