The Michelin management apologized for the fact that in its press release on the launch of the Michelin-star restaurant gastronomic guide to Moscow, borscht was called “Russian”. Changes have been made to it.
The decision was made after speaking with representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the agency’s Facebook page.
The Foreign Ministry explained that initially the press release referred to “the first dishes of Russian cuisine: borscht and pickles.” The revised part of the text reads as follows: “in the culinary scene in Russia, they offer vegetable and spice dishes that gourmets appreciate, in particular pickles, as well as borscht in its possible forms and variations.”
“The conversation was constructive. The company’s management received an apology for” gastronomic recklessness with an unexpected political connotation, “the statement read.
The department also noted that work has started on a Michelin-starred food guide for Kiev restaurants.
“Groupe Michelin enthusiastically accepted this idea, and especially the invitation to visit Ukraine and try authentic Ukrainian borscht to eliminate all questions. Our borscht!” – He added to the Chancellery.
