British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has submitted documents for the registration of its COVID vaccine. This is the next step to get permission to use it.
This was stated by British Health Minister Matt Hancock, Reuters reports.
AstraZeneca has today submitted a complete data set on its COVID-19 vaccine to the Medicines Regulatory Authority, it said.
“I am pleased to inform you that the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, developed here in the UK, has submitted a complete data package to the MHRA for approval. This is the next step towards the decision to implement a vaccine that is already in production.” Hancock added.
Recall that after the final tests, the AstraZeneca vaccine showed an efficacy of 70%, after which a cooperation agreement was signed with the Russian side to improve the drug using the Sputnik V vaccine.
It is assumed that it is the AstraZeneca vaccine that will be available for poor countries, since its cost is lower than that of the US Pfizer and Moderna.
