The Kiev Pechersk District Court granted the request of the investigator of the State Investigation Office to grant permission for a pre-trial investigation against the former head of the Ukrainian Security Service. He is hiding from the investigation and the court.
This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
This means that investigators can conduct an investigation in absentia. Permission was granted in criminal proceedings on suspicion of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and former senior officials of illegally obstructing rallies. They are also suspected of abuse of power.
Note that during the Revolution of Dignity, Alexander Yakimenko was the head of the Security Service.
As a reminder, the court allowed an investigation in absentia against former Ukrainian Interior Minister Oleksandr Zakharchenko.
Let us note in more detail about the years of investigation of this case in the RBC-Ukraine material “Seven years later. What has changed in the investigation of the Maidan cases”.
