The UK is discussing with France the introduction of massive driver testing to resume freight traffic, despite a highly contagious new type of coronavirus.
According to Sky News, British Home Secretary Priti Patel said the government was still thinking about a decision and suggested that drivers could undergo massive tests at the border.
France on Sunday December 20 closed the border with Great Britain for 48 hours, the driving ban expires at 11pm on Tuesday, British time (1am on Wednesday in Kiev).
According to the television channel, this Monday more than 900 trucks have accumulated on the M20 motorway, which heads to London from Pas-de-Calais.
Many European countries have closed their borders to arrivals from the UK since Sunday, following the announcement of stricter restrictions related to a new strain of COVID-19 in London and southern England.
