Minibus trips will go up in price after the lockdown: where and how much

In Ukraine, after the January lockdown (from January 8 to January 24, 2021), carriers will increase the price of trips by minibuses and buses.

As stated in the TSN report, the cause was industry losses as a result of the introduction of quarantine. The carriers themselves say that at first they expected the support of the State, since it was provided to the entrepreneurs, but they received nothing and are forced to raise the rate.

The price increase will affect not only Kiev, but also other cities in Ukraine. According to the State Statistics Service, during 10 months of 2020, total passenger traffic was cut in half. Therefore, it can be argued that the carriers lost at least 50% of their profits.

“Passenger traffic has decreased, working conditions have become harsher. There are only seats available. But carriers still transport them. Different companies will load them in different ways, depending on the route, depending on the load,” he said Vyacheslav Konovalov, expert on transportation issues.

Now prices for short routes in Kiev increased from 5 to 6 hryvnia. Carriers have already started a discussion so that after the lockdown the price in Kiev go up to 10-12 hryvnia.

According to experts, this will tentatively happen in February-March. And so that people do not move from minibuses to the subway, trolleybuses, trams and large city buses, Kiev transporters are optimizing routes.

“An inevitable increase in the cost of travel on public transport and in Khmelnytsky. Where, by the way, prices are now among the lowest in Ukraine. Now he travels on the city trolleybus costs 3 and a half hryvnia, on a city bus in the afternoon 5 hryvnia, after 20:00 6 hryvnia “, – take note of the edit.

Khmelnytsky Deputy Mayor Mykola Vavrishchuk explained that prices were forced to rise to UAH 9-10. This is the condition of carriers.

“Of course, the city council will not consider such a strong price increase and we are considering all the calculations. And we will make the decision to increase the cost of travel in passenger transport in February,” he explained.

It is also known that the fare will increase in Zhytomyr: the minibus now costs, as in Kiev, 8 UAH, 9, and electric transport 7 UAH. It should be noted that this decision can already be taken as of January 1, 20201.

Let us remember that after the introduction of the blockade in Ukraine, the movement of urban, intraregional and interurban transport will not be limited.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, Transgroup director Vladimir Nazarenko warned that carriers will approve prices for specific routes after the January lockdown ends. In Kiev, the cost of trips by minibuses can increase to 12 hryvnia.

WITHOUT waiting for 2021, some operators have already increased prices on popular routes.
