The United States Department of Commerce has introduced new trade restrictions in the Russian Federation.

The Bureau of Industry and Security of the US Department of Commerce (BIS) has published a list of 103 companies and departments from Russia and China that cooperate with the armed forces of their states. Listing means that these organizations will not be able to purchase certain goods and technologies from the United States. The corresponding list was published on Monday, December 21.

“The US Department of Commerce recognizes the importance of working with US and global companies to counter efforts by China and Russia to use US technology in their destabilizing military programs,” said Department Head Wilbur Ross.

It should be noted that for these companies the sale of a number of US products and technologies will be limited.

In particular, among the Russian organizations, the Ministry of Defense, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Progress space and rocket center, the Rossiya special flight unit (which transports President Vladimir Putin), Rosoboronexport, companies of the Rostec corporations and Rosatom, MiG “,” Sukhoi Civil Aircraft “,” Tupolev “, United Aircraft Corporation, the aircraft construction company” Irkut “(produces fighter jets and other aircraft) and others.

Among Chinese companies, sanctions included those working with the State Aircraft Engine Corporation, a chemical laboratory, the National Satellite Meteorology Office, as well as the Institute of Oceanography and others.

The report says that the list of companies and structures recognized as “military end users” can be expanded by decision of the interdepartmental End User Verification Committee (made up of representatives from the Department of Commerce, the Pentagon, the Department of State and the Department of Energy from USA). But it is also possible to exclude companies from the list.

The United States has imposed restrictions on Chinese companies on several occasions. In May 2020, the restrictions affected telecommunications company Huawei, as well as 70 related firms.
