The United States decided to impose sanctions on Russian companies

The United States decided to impose sanctions against 45 Russian companies, as well as 58 Chinese, whose final consumers are military departments.

The corresponding “first tranche” list of sanctions was posted on the US Department of Commerce website. Let us clarify that export restrictions will be introduced against these companies.

Among the companies and departments that were on the restrictive list:

  • Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation;

  • Foreign Intelligence Service;

  • special flight unit “Russia” (carrying President Vladimir Putin);

  • the shipbuilding company “Admiralty Shipyards”;

  • Rostec;

  • Rosatom (All-Russian Scientific Research Automation Institute named after Dukhov, Technological Institute for Scientific Research named after Alexandrov);

  • Rosoboronexport;

  • the aircraft construction company Irkut (produces fighter jets and other aircraft);

  • “Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant named after Yuri Gagarin”;

  • several large companies in aviation, space and other industries.

US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said the checklist would help exporters select their clients for military cooperation.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on December 16 the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the countries of the European Union approved the extension of sanctions against Russia for the violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Furthermore, the future administration of US President-elect Joe Biden is known to be considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against Russia. They are associated with cyber attacks on US government agencies.

In all, Russian hackers attacked three American states. Among its targets were several federal agencies, notably the Pentagon and the State Department. The attack also affected Microsoft.
