Sevskiy District Court of Bryansk Region December 4, 2018 sentenced Shumkov to four years in prison general regime of belonging to the “Right Sector”. According to the case materials, Shumkov “for a long time” was the guard of the former leader of the “Right Sector” Dmitry Yarosh.

The Ukrainian said that in late August 2017, FSB agents kidnapped him and transported him to Russian territory. According to Shumkov, at the time of the kidnapping, he was an active military man of the 11th Separate Brigade of the Army Aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (stationed in the village of Chernobaevka, Kherson region).

In April 2019, Shumkov stated that he was beaten twice by Russian jailers.

On October 15, 2019, Shumkov went on a hunger strike, demanding that Russia stop blackmailing prisoners in negotiations in the Minsk and Normandy formats. On October 23, he was admitted to the hospital. On November 7, the Ukrainian ended his hunger strike.

In April this year, Shumkov was sent to a detachment under strict conditions of detention.

In November, Denisova again reported that Shumkov had been beaten in the colony.
