The planet faces a global flood: the moment of catastrophe has been announced | World

A flood awaits the planet in 2100, which could become a disaster for humanity. This will happen if the average temperature rises 4 degrees above pre-industrial indicators (1850-1900).

Scientists from Imperial College London (England) reached this conclusion, writes One Earth. According to them, the increase in temperature will lead to the fact that the Earth’s ice sheets will lose billions of tons of their mass.

“Hundreds of millions of people now live in coastal flood-prone regions, and the likelihood of more devastating floods will increase with a sharp rise in sea level,” the study said.

The scientists explained that at the end of the last ice age, 10,000 years ago, the ice sheets were melting much faster than now and the sea level was rising one meter every century.

At the same time, the researchers stressed that their prediction is not accurate. But they fear that the ice sheets will start to disappear faster in the coming decades.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that the world was on the brink of a climate catastrophe due to the rise in average temperature on Earth.
