The people’s deputy of the “Servant of the People” Maxim Buzhansky, together with 27 members of the same party, presented to the Verkhovna Rada a bill proposing to abolish fines for non-compliance with language legislation.
Buzhansky announced his initiative on Telegram. The document is registered in parliament under number 4528.
In addition to Buzhansky, Alexander Dubinsky, Daniil Getmantsev, Alexander Kachura, Evgeny Bragar and others stand out as co-authors.
The popular deputy said that he had wanted to present his bill for a long time, but that he feared popular protests before the budget was approved.
“Friends, from January 16, the rule of the language law comes into force, according to which the entire service sector, the entire company must work in the state language, otherwise the fine. It is not small, by the way, up to 6800 hryvnia. This is absurd, companies only have to pay taxes and nothing else, the rest is regulated by the market, “Buzhansky wrote.
He pointed out that he does not want to change anything in the current law, since “everything is corrupt.” For this reason, he proposed in his legislative initiative simply to abolish the fines. The popular deputy motivated him by the fact that service workers have the right to provide services in the language they want.
“It is not necessary to tell the hairdressers in which language to cut their hair and the tire fitters in which language to change the wheel. They paid taxes and owe nothing to anyone except their families,” Buzhansky wrote.
Recall that in December 2019, Buzhansky submitted to the Rada a bill to repeal the law on state language, adopted in 2019.
