Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny said he managed to reach FSB officer Konstantin Kudryavtsev, who was involved in his Novichk poisoning.
He posted the recording of the conversation on his YouTube channel.
According to Navalny, Kudryavtsev was introduced as Undersecretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev, thanks to which he managed to obtain a confession from him.
The opponent, in particular, asked the secret service officer why the operation to eliminate him had failed, to which the interlocutor suggested that the reason was the plane landing too fast in Omsk and the prompt action of the ambulance team at the airport .
According to the results of a joint investigation by Bellingcat and The Insider, in which Navalny himself was involved, the key role in his poisoning was played by employees of a special unit of the Institute of Forensic Sciences of the FSB of the Russian Federation.
The special operation was carried out by a group of at least eight people who had been following the opponent since 2017.
Investigators also found that the poisoning of the FBK founder in Tomsk may not have been the first.
A few days after the publication of the investigation, the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, during a press conference admitted the surveillance of Navalny, but said that if the special services of the Russian Federation wanted to kill him, they would.
Navalny was hospitalized on August 20, 2020 from a plane that urgently landed in Omsk.
The opponent was taken to the intensive care unit of a local hospital in a coma and connected to a ventilator.
In turn, Navalny’s relatives decided to transfer him to Germany, where he would receive more qualified assistance.
Despite the fact that the Russian doctors initially spoke out against this, on August 22 the plane with the politician arrived in Berlin.
German military toxicologists have established that Navalny was poisoned with a substance from the Novichok group.
After that, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the Russian opponent was the victim of the crime of those who want to silence him.
Navalny was discharged from the Charite clinic on September 23.
