The majority of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine should follow the direction of integration with the European Union. At the same time, many citizens are in favor of integration with Russia.
This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Foundation for Democratic Initiatives together with the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS). It took place between 2004 people.
Thus, the citizens interviewed believe that Ukraine should:

advance towards EU membership – 48%;

join the Eurasian Economic Union with the Russian Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan – 13%;

do not join any of the unions – 30%.
It is observed that supporters of European integration especially in the western (72%) and central (52%) regions of Ukraine.
In the southern regions, roughly the same number of respondents support European integration as those who do not join a union (36% and 33%, respectively). A for the rapprochement with Russia they are 23%.
In the eastern regions, the majority (40%) do not support any trade unions, while 24% and 26% of respondents support integration with the EU and the Russian Federation.
Also, Ukrainians voiced for:

Ukraine’s accession to NATO: 42%;

military alliance with Russia – 11%;

Non-aligned status: 34% of respondents.
It is noted that the survey was conducted from December 5 to 13 among residents of 131 settlements in the country, with the exception of the occupied territories of Donbass and Crimea. The respondents were interviewed by the personal interview method, the sampling error does not exceed 3.3%.
