Ukraine is negotiating with Poland, which may become an intermediary to obtain a COVID vaccine from the European Union. This was stated by the head of Ukraine’s delegation to the EU, Mykola Tochitsky, in an online briefing on Monday, December 21.
“The EU is developing a mechanism for the supply or sale of vaccines to third countries, which is stipulated in each of the six European Commission agreements with manufacturers. We, as a country, prioritize the allocation of vaccines at least mainly for doctors and elderly people. This mechanism can be ready in mid-January “, – said Tochitsky.
According to him, third countries will receive the vaccine through one of the EU member states.
“We assume it could be Poland, and those consultations are taking place with Polish colleagues,” he added.
Tochitskiy summarized that Ukraine will need to provide conditions for storing the vaccine, including ultra-low temperature storage facilities, as necessary, for example, for the Pfizer / Biontech vaccine.
We will remember that earlier Shmygal told the Rada about vaccination plans. The national coronavirus vaccination plan will be approved next week. Doctors will be vaccinated before the end of winter.
