The editor-in-chief of the publication Censor.NET, Yuri Butusov, who was first offered a position in the Ministry of Defense and later changed his mind, had an urgent meeting with the head of the department, Andrei Taran.

Butusov announced this on Facebook.

Following the meeting, he agreed to become an independent advisor to the Minister of Defense for two months.

«It turns out that this urgency and publicity of the call is explained by the fact that the minister offered me four positions: head of the department of normative and methodological support and monitoring of buildings and lands of the Ministry of Defense; head of one of the directorates of the military-technical policy department; Head of the Information Policy Directorate (this is a new name in the MO structure); Autonomous advisor to the Minister of Defense on a voluntary basis to cover the problems of incompetence and corruption in the structures of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, without salary, without position, without any authority, that is, I continue to work as a journalist ”, wrote.

«As we all understand, these positions do not affect anything in the Defense Ministry and do not provide any access to decision-making, “Butusov added.

The journalist pointed out that, when proposing these positions, the Defense Minister recognized the objectivity and fairness of his criticisms and asked for help to organize the correct information policy of the Defense Ministry.

«As a result: I made a decision based on the results of the conversation to accept the offer to become an independent adviser to the Defense Minister for a period of two months, “Butusov said.

During this period, he undertook to produce a series of materials on the problems of defense planning and the development of the army, and two months later, on February 20, to produce a final report. Based on the results of the report, Butusov will also say whether he will continue to work in the ministry.

«Based on the results of which, I will inform you if I will continue to be an advisor or resign my status for specific reasons. I will not have my own office in the Moscow region, I will not “solve problems”, I will not organize “my people”, I will remain a journalist. Now I am waiting for a response from the Ministry of Defense for the minister to publicly confirm his proposal in the same way he applied it initially, ”Butusov added.

Yuri Butusov published an investigation into the alleged case «Wagnerianos ”and actively covered the activities of the Ministry of Defense.

On December 8, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine invited journalist Yuriy Butusov to occupy one of the ministerial positions in the areas on which his professional attention is focused.

Butusov accepted the offer from the Defense Ministry, saying that in this way the department recognized the justice of its criticisms and its inability to deal with the problems of the defense industry.

The following day, the journalist said that the Defense Ministry ignored his consent to hold one of the positions in the military department.

The journalist was invited for an interview on December 10. That same day, the press service of the Defense Ministry said that «I sincerely ”wanted to hire Butusov, but the level of his competence does not match the level of his ambitions. The ministry emphasized that such a decision was made after a conversation with a journalist.

At the same time, Butusov said that no one had interviewed him and that what was written on the ministry’s website was an insult to him, so he plans to sue the Ministry of Defense.
