The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifanio, noted that churches would not close due to COVID-19 at Christmas and urged Ukrainians to pray.
The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), Metropolitan Epiphanius, said that Ukrainians have many challenges to pray for. So he told Radio Svoboda in an interview that was published on December 19.
“Now we have many challenges. A war challenge, a pandemic challenge, various economic and political problems. We must not forget about prayer to God. Because the Lord can change everything in an instant,” he explained.
The OCU Primate noted that churches will not be closed due to quarantine restrictions on Orthodox Christmas on January 7.
“We are grateful to the government of Ukraine for the fact that churches are not closed, services will be held under certain conditions, but this is good. Because at this time we must raise our prayers to God that the Lord will help us overcome these challenges, “emphasized Epifanio.
On December 9, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine extended national quarantine until February 28, 2021… From December 19 new quarantine restrictions apply… From January 8 to 00:00 on January 25 in the country there will be a “winter vacation quarantine”.
