On Saturday, December 19, Ukraine’s main Christmas tree was solemnly lit on Sofia Square in Kiev. Hundreds of people turned out to gaze at the bright lights that illuminated the green beauty. And it was not without an emergency. The arch was lit up with fireworks. The organizers asked everyone to calm down.

The fireworks suddenly started on a metal frame just above the heads of the people who came to see the opening of the Christmas tree. Sparklers lit a decorative bow on the same metal structure.
A minute later the fire was put out with the extinguishers of the nearest “house” with mulled wine. Additionally, a garland fell off during the fire.
At the same time, the flares from which the ignition began were directed downward, directly at the people. And Strana’s correspondent was there.
