At the same time, he added that he did not oppose such a decision, but only with the consent of the Ukrainians.
“And we clearly know the sociology, which testifies that more than 60% of Ukrainians are against the celebration of December 25. And we as a church trust our believers, because we are only asserting ourselves as a recognized local OCU And if we now change to a new calendar, then consequently there will be another definitive split “, explained the metropolitan.
The Primate of the OCU pointed out that there is not yet a transition period to decide a single date to celebrate Christmas in Ukraine.
“When the Church matures, when believing people mature before this, then, of course, an appropriate decision will be made,” he said, calling the decision “a matter of time.”
“It will take place (the transition), but when the Ukrainian people, the Orthodox believers and not just the Orthodox Christians, other Christians consciously approach this, because all of this is interconnected. When we see that the majority is ready, then we will will make a church-wide decision on the transition. ” – Epifanio answered.
It has not yet clarified when this will be done.
