A rare Chevrolet Caprice car, originally from the 90s, was seen on the streets of Kiev. But the most interesting thing is that it was in this car that the now deceased, the first oligarch of Ukraine, Yevgeny Shcherban, drove.

The Topgir.com.ua site writes about this.

This particular car is exclusive, tailor-made, and armored. In the immediate aftermath of Shcherban’s high-profile assassination in 1996, the car disappeared from view, no one drove it, and it was not sold. And now this “ghost” reappeared on the streets of the capital. Chevrolet was seen at one of the service stations, most likely it was driven there for service.

Interestingly, even the car’s license plates remained the same.

The father’s car was probably driven by the son of the deceased, it was he who became its owner after the murder of his father. By the way, Yevhen Shcherban in the early 90s was considered the richest people in Ukraine. In the archive photos, he is in the company of current billionaires Akhmetov and Taruta.

On November 3, 1996, Evgeniy Shcherban returned from Moscow to Donetsk. He flew on a charter flight on a Yak-40 plane. But the first oligarch of Ukraine did not have time to get into his armored Chevrolet Caprice, he was shot right on the stairs of the plane. On that terrible day, in addition to Shcherban, his wife died, as well as the aeronautical technician Gapchich and the flight mechanic Shein.

Shcherban’s sons continue their litigation to this day. After all, those responsible for his parents’ deaths were never found. In terms of volume and resonance, the “Shcherban case” can be compared to the sensational assassination of Vlad Listyev in Russia.

As previously reported by “Apostrophe”, auto experts have made the top 10 safest cars – all have successfully passed crash tests.
