Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Elena visited the festive city “Nikolai Takes Friends”, who will work near the Office of the Head of State during the New Year holidays.
This was reported by the presidential press service. The artists, who had gathered in the square near the OP, were congratulated on the upcoming holidays by performing “Shchedryk”.
Saint Nicholas lit festive lights on the tree.
Zelensky recalled that for the second year in a row festive events have been organized near his office, and this has become a pleasant tradition.
He expressed the hope that the festive city on Bankova Street will become one of the favorite places of Kiev residents and visitors to the city to walk with their family.
The First Lady shared the story of creating toys that decorate the central Christmas tree in the square.
“This year the tree is unusual. It is decorated with toys, the sketches of which were drawn by children with special educational needs,” Zelenskaya said.
The presidential couple wished the Ukrainians happy New Year holidays and walked through the territory of the festive city. The couple bought several New Years souvenirs and sampled mulled wine.
The site “Nikolay accepts friends” will operate all the time of the New Years holidays from 10:00 to 21:00, seven days a week. On its territory there is a skating rink, a carousel, the residence of St. Nicholas, holiday photo areas and a New Year’s fair.
Everyone can use the ice rink for free. You can bring your own skates or rent them for free. At the Saint Nicholas residence, children can write and send a letter to a friendly magician.
The site will operate in compliance with all necessary measures under quarantine conditions: mandatory mask regime, equipment with disinfectants. It was promised to adjust the number of visitors at the entrance.
