Three days of mourning begin in Armenia
The Armenian authorities claim almost three thousand deaths during the hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
From December 19 to 21, Armenia declared days of national mourning for those killed during hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. Aggravation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh
In the summer of 2020, the conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region between Azerbaijan, on the one hand, and Armenia and the army of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), on the other, escalated. In late September, large-scale hostilities began in the region. They lasted from September 27 to November 9. The Prime Minister of Armenia and the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement on November 9 on a full ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh starting on November 10.
According to this document, the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops remain in their positions. Baku gained control of three districts in the region: Agdam in the east and Kelbajar and Lachin in the west. Russian peacekeepers were deployed along the Nagorno-Karabakh line of contact and along the corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia. Transport communication in the region is controlled by the border service of the FSB of Russia.
40 days since the end of the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh
“December 19 is the fortieth day of the cessation of hostilities in Karabakh, and in this regard, a three-day duel will be declared on December 19,” Pashinyan announced earlier. The authorities of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic have also declared three days of mourning since December 19, said its head Arayik Harutyunyan.
Armenian authorities claim that nearly 3,000 people died during hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.
